Election of Mayor for the ensuing year

1.         APPOINTMENT OF MAYOR

 

(a)  It will be proposed by Councillor Rooney and seconded by Councillor Roberts that Councillor RG Allen be elected as Mayor for the ensuing year.

 

(at this juncture, Councillor Allen will remove his Deputy Mayor’s chain and place this on the table).

 

(b)  Councillor Allen will make and sign the requisite declaration of acceptance of office and Councillor Richards will invest him with the chain of office.

 

Councillor Allen will then take the chair.

 

(at this time, Councillor Richards will sit alongside Councillor Allen).

 

(c)  The Mayor will invite Mr Richards to remove his consort chain. Mr Richards will present Mrs Allen (who will have removed her Deputy Mayoress’ chain) with the Mayoress’ chain.

 

(d)  Councillor Allen will then address the meeting, including the introduction of his air and sea cadets.

 

2.         VOTE OF THANKS TO THE RETIRING MAYOR

 

            A vote of thanks to Councillor Richards will be proposed by Councillor Hall and seconded by Councillor Ladkin.

           

The Past Mayor’s commemorative medallion will be presented to Councillor Richards by Cllr Allen.

 

3.         RESPONSE BY COUNCILLOR RICHARDS

 

            Councillor Richards will respond to the vote of thanks and address the meeting.

Minutes:

On the motion of Councillor Rooney, seconded by Councillor Roberts, it was

 

RESOLVED – Councillor Allen be elected Mayor for the ensuing municipal year.

 

Cllr Allen made the requisite declaration of acceptance of office and the retiring Mayor invested him with the Chain of Office.

 

The Mayor, Cllr Allen, took the chair at this juncture.

 

The retiring Mayor’s Consort invested Mrs Allen with the Consort’s chain.

 

In addressing the meeting, Cllr Allen announced that Pastor Garry Kelly had agreed to be his Chaplain and he introduced his Air and Sea Cadets. Cllr Allen indicated that he would be raising funds for two charities during his Mayoral year – Huncote Animal Aid and the Leicestershire & Rutland Youth Sailing Association.

 

It was then moved by Cllr Hall, seconded by Cllr Ladkin and

 

RESOLVED – a vote of thanks be accorded to Cllr Richards for service during her term of office as Mayor.

 

Cllr Richards then addressed the meeting, thanking her Chaplain, Cadets and officers, and also presenting medals to her Cadets.


Meeting: 19/05/2015 - Council (Item 2)

Election of Mayor for the ensuing year

(a)          APPOINTMENT OF MAYOR

 

(i)         It will be proposed by Councillor C Ladkin and seconded by Councillor M Hall that Councillor J Richards be elected Mayor for the ensuing year.

 

(ii)        Councillor Richards will make and sign the requisite declaration of acceptance of office and Mr Bannister will invest her with the chain of office. Councillor Richards will then take the chair (Mr Bannister will take a seat on the lower deck).

 

(iii)       The Mayor will invite Mrs Bannister to remove her Consort’s chain. Mrs Bannister will present Mr Richards with the Consort’s chain.

 

(iv)       Councillor Richards will address the meeting, including introduction of her air and sea cadets and her chaplains.

 

(b)        VOTE OF THANKS TO THE RETIRING MAYOR

 

            A vote of thanks to Mr Bannister will be proposed by Councillor L Hodgkins and seconded by Councillor DC Bill.

 

(c)        RESPONSE BY MR BANNISTER

 

            Mr Bannister will respond to the vote of thanks, address the meeting and make presentations to his cadets.

 

            Councillor Richards will present a gift to Mr Bannister.

The retiring Mayoress invested the new Consort with the Consort’s chain.

 

In addressing the meeting, Cllr Richards announced that Reverend Martin Castle had agreed to be her Chaplain and she introduced her Air and Sea Cadets. Cllr Richards indicated that she would be raising funds for two charities during her Mayoral year – The Army Benevolent Fund (ABF) and Menphys Nursery.

 

It was then moved by Cllr Hodgkins, seconded by Cllr Bill and

 

RESOLVED – a vote of thanks be accorded to Mr Bannister for service during his term of office as Mayor.

 

Mr Bannister then addressed the meeting, thanking his Chaplain, Cadets, Mayoress and officers, and also presenting medals to his Cadets.

Election of Mayor for the ensuing year

1.         APPOINTMENT OF MAYOR

 

(a)        It will be proposed by Councillor K Nichols and seconded by Councillor DC Bill that Councillor JG Bannister be elected Mayor for the ensuing year.

 

            (At this juncture Cllr Bannister will remove his Deputy Mayor’s chain and place this on the table).

 

(b)        Councillor Bannister will make and sign the requisite declaration of acceptance of office and Councillor Hodgkins will invest him with the chain of office. Councillor Bannister will then take the Chair. (At this time Councillor Hodgkins will sit alongside Councillor Bannister).

 

(c)               The Mayor will invite Mr Hodgkins to remove his Consort chain. Mr Hodgkins will present Mrs Bannister (who will have removed her Deputy Mayoress’s chain) with the Mayoress’s chain.

 

(d)               Councillor Bannister will then address the meeting, including the introduction of his air and sea cadets.

Cllr Hodgkins will respond to the vote of thanks, address the meeting and make presentations to her consorts.                    

 

The Past Mayor's commemorative medallion will be presented to Cllr Hodgkins by Cllr Bannister.

On the motion of Councillor Nichols, seconded by Councillor Bill it was

 

RESOLVED – Councillor Bannister be elected Mayor for the ensuing municipal year.

 

Cllr Bannister made the requisite declaration of acceptance of office and the retiring Mayor invested him with the Chain of Office.

 

The Mayor, Cllr Bannister, took the chair at this juncture.

 

The retiring Consort invested the new Mayoress with the Consort’s chain.

 

In addressing the meeting, Cllr Bannister announced that Reverend John Whittaker had agreed to be his Chaplain and he introduced his Air and Sea Cadets and presented them with the insignia. He indicated that he would be raising funds for two charities during his Mayoral year – St Mary’s Clock Repair Fund and Leicestershire Sailing Association. He also reported that he would be continuing his support for Emmaus.

 

It was then moved by Cllr Nichols, seconded by Cllr Bray and

 

RESOLVED – a vote of thanks be accorded to Cllr Hodgkins for service during her term of office as Mayor.

 

Councillor Hodgkins then addressed the meeting, thanking her Chaplain, Cadets, Consorts and officers, and also presenting medals to her Cadets.
