Agenda and minutes

(i)         Appointment of Mayor

a.    It will be proposed by Councillor Flemming and seconded by Councillor P Williams that Councillor Glenville be elected as Mayor for the ensuing year.

b.    Councillor Glenville will make and sign the requisite declaration of acceptance of office and Councillor Hollick will invest her with the Mayor’s chain.

Councillor Glenville will then take over as chair of the meeting.

c.    The Mayor will invite Mrs Hollick to remove her Mayoress’ chain. Mrs Hollick with present Cllr Walker with the Consort’s chain.

d.    Councillor Glenville will then address the meeting, including introduction of her cadets and chaplain.

(ii)        Vote of thanks to the retiring Mayor

            A vote of thanks to Councillor Hollick will be proposed by Councillor Bill and seconded by Councillor Bray.

            The Past Mayor’s commemorative medallion will be presented to Councillor Hollick by Councillor Glenville.

(iii)       Response by Councillor Hollick

            Councillor Hollick will respond to the vote of thanks and address the meeting.

(iv)       Presentation of Leader’s medal

            The Leader will present the Leader’s medal to Mrs Hollick.

On the motion of Councillor Flemming, seconded by Councillor P Williams it was unanimously

RESOLVED – Councillor Glenville be appointed Mayor for the ensuing municipal year.

Councillor Glenville made the requisite declaration of acceptance of office and the retiring Mayor invested her with the chain of office.

The Mayor, Councillor Glenville, took the chair at this point.

The retiring Mayor’s consort invested Councillor Walker with the consort’s chain.

In addressing the meeting, Councillor Glenville introduced her cadet and chaplain and announced her charities.

It was then moved by Councillor Bill, seconded by Councillor Bray and

RESOLVED – a vote of thanks be accorded to Councillor Hollick for service during his term of office as Mayor.

Councillor Hollick then addressed the meeting, thanking his wife for her support as Mayoress and previously Deputy Mayoress for two years, his chaplain and fellow councillors. The Mayor then presented Councillor Hollick with the Past Mayor’s medal.

Councillor Bray presented the Leader’s medal to Mrs Hollick.

(i)         It will be proposed by Councillor M Mullaney and seconded by Councillor Bray that Councillor Gibbens be appointed Deputy Mayor for the ensuing year.

(ii)        Councillor Gibbens will make and sign the requisite declaration of acceptance of office following which Councillor Glenville will invest Councillor Gibbens with the Deputy Mayor’s chain of office.

(iii)       Councillor Glenville will invest Mrs Gibbens with the Deputy Mayoress’ chain.

On the motion of Councillor M Mullaney, seconded by Councillor Bray, it was unanimously

RESOLVED – Councillor Gibbens be appointed Deputy Mayor for the ensuing year.

Councillor Gibbens then made the requisite declaration of acceptance of office and the Mayor invested him with the Deputy Mayor’s chain of office and Mrs Gibbens with the Deputy Mayoress’ chain.

Apologies for absence were submitted on behalf of Councillors C Allen, Boothby, Collett, Nichols and Roberts.

To receive verbally from Members any disclosures which they are required to make in accordance with the council's code of conduct or in pursuance of Section 106 of the Local Government Finance Act 1992. This is in addition to the need for such disclosure to be also given when the relevant matter is reached on the agenda.

No interests were declared.

At this juncture, Councillor O’Shea informed members of the recent sad passing of former councillor Richard Shooter and a one minute silence ensued.
