Apologies for absence were submitted on behalf of Councillors Boothby, Findlay, Furlong, Pendlebury, Sheppard-Bools and H Williams.

Declarations of interest

To receive verbally from Members any disclosures which they are required to make in accordance with the Council's code of conduct or in pursuance of Section 106 of the Local Government Finance Act 1992. This is in addition to the need for such disclosure to be also given when the relevant matter is reached on the Agenda.

Mayor's Communications

Minutes:

The Mayor stated that she had sent a letter of condolence to His Majesty King Charles III.

 

The Mayor referred to the vigil service held at St Mary’s Church, Hinckley, the reading of the Proclamation in Argents Mead and the forthcoming Churches Together Service on 16 September.

Motion proposed by Councillor Bray and seconded by Councillor R Allen

“That the following Address to His Majesty be adopted, sealed with the Common Seal of the Borough Council and forwarded to His Majesty

 

Address:

 

‘To His Majesty The King

 

May it please Your Majesty.

 

We, Your Majesty’s loyal and faithful subjects, the Mayor, Councillors and Citizens of Hinckley and Bosworth, express our profound sympathy on the passing of your beloved mother, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

 

Her Majesty The Queen was a wise and constitutional Monarch who earned the admiration and loyal affection of all her subjects. The loss is felt across the country, the Commonwealth and the world.

 

We express our loyalty to Your Majesty The King and congratulations on your accession to the throne. We hope that, by the Grace of God, your reign is long and happy.’”

Councillor Bray and Councillor R Allen had given notice of the following motion:

 

“That the following Address to His Majesty be adopted, sealed with the Common Seal of the Borough Council and forwarded to His Majesty

Members paid tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, shared memories and told of occasions when they had met her.

 

Upon being put to the vote, the motion was CARRIED and it was

 

RESOLVED – the Address to His Majesty as outlined above be adopted, sealed with the Common Seal of the Borough Council and forwarded to His Majesty.
