Minutes:

Members were updated on performance, achievements and challenges of the Blaby and Hinckley & Bosworth Community Safety Partnership. Discussion ensued on the following:

·         The priority given to reports of antisocial behaviour by the police

·         The serious violence duty which involved working together on a preventative approach to serious violence including via early intervention

·         High numbers of domestic abuse compared to pre-covid years which may have been due to the ongoing focus on encouraging reporting of domestic abuse

·         Support for children impacted by domestic abuse which was successful due to partnership working and strong relationships with schools

·         Road safety concerns and discussions between the police and other agencies in relation to actions to address bridge strikes on the A5

·         Increased policing and support for residents in relation to burglary

·         Antisocial behaviour in rural areas and hesitancy about reporting

·         The need to focus on post-covid statistics from now on

·         The population increase which may also have an impact on the crime numbers and would be demonstrated by looking at crime numbers as a percentage of the population.

RESOLVED –

(i)            The report be noted;

(ii)          The work that has taken place to enable the Community Safety Partnership and the local authorities to successfully ensure compliance with the serious violence duty be noted.
