The Scrutiny Commission is part of the
Council’s Overview & Scrutiny function. It discharges
functions conferred by the Local Government Act 2000, with the aims
of improving services to the public. The Scrutiny Commission has a
role in policy development and review and scrutiny of Executive
decisions, acting as a critical friend.
The Scrutiny Commission consists of 11
members. Meetings are held approximately every eight weeks, usually
at 6.30pm. Meetings are generally open to the public except where
exempt information is being discussed. We endeavour to livestream
public meetings to the council’s YouTube channel. Videos will
then remain available for six months after the meeting, although
the council reserves the right to remove a video if it deems it
necessary.
If attending a meeting, you may be visible on
the livestream and video. If you do not wish to be visible on
camera, please speak to Democratic Services on arrival.
