To advise members of changes to legislation following the implementation of the Social Housing Regulation Act 2023

Members received a report advising changes to legislation following the implementation of the Social Housing Regulation Act 2023. This included progress with compliance in relation to key areas mandated by the act and the new inspection routine set out by the regulator of social housing.

 

In response to a question from members about the investment needed into the housing management system, it was confirmed that this project sat within the Housing service and was proposed to address the current workarounds in terms of consumer regulations and to design services in a way that met the needs of council tenants. This formed part of the emerging HRA investment plan.

 

It was moved by Councillor Mullaney, seconded by Councillor Cartwright and

 

                        RESOLVED –

 

(i)            Members noted the new requirements of the Social Housing Regulation Act 2023;

 

(ii)          Members noted and approved progress by the Housing service in meeting new legislative requirements;

 

(iii)         Members supported and agreed the Damp and Mould policy;

 

(iv)         Members confirmed publication of the tenant satisfaction measures; and

 

(v)          Members noted the new inspection regime introduced from the 1 April 2024 and the expectation that the council house service would be inspected every four years.
